Alfonso is dedicated to the RSS and has completed Level 2 of the Instructor Training Course. He represented Nicaragua as part of the team in the Central American Golf Championship. In 1977 he tried to qualify for the PGA Tour. He has won many tournaments through the years and is based at the Nejapa Golf and Country Club in Nicaragua.
