Stability and Resistance

Often when players try to add power and speed they lose their original posture. Here are a couple of simple exercises Gary does everyday to build stability and maintain resistance.

Pulling the Chain: The Yip Fix

Golfers who struggle with short putts almost always have bad posture and wrist angles at set-up. Here are a couple of drills that give people the correct feeling with the putter and help fix the yips.

Coil Up and Over

If you are coiled up correctly you can start down with your arms without having to make adjustments to your posture. In this lesson Gary explains how to stay high with the lead side and still over when you coil.

Learning to Coil

Learning to Coil correctly is the key to developing direct arm and shaft speed coming down. In this video Gary explains the correct arm structure and posture at set-up, RSS club-face angles, and the difference between coil and turn.

Tuck Vs Side Bend

There are a lot more players on Tour now that focus on getting the correct posture and arm bias at set-up. In this video Gary talks about the routine of a couple of recent tour winners and the difference between tuck and side bend.

Right Arm Down

Getting the shoulders and arms moving in the right direction early allows the right arm to fold correctly. This position at the top allows you to swing the club down without having to make adjustments to the body posture.

Indoor Training: RSS Drill Routine

Training your posture and being able to hold it as your arms move is the key to learning and maintaining the Right Sided Swing. In this video Gary runs through the Indoor Drill routine he does everyday to improve his swing.

Mastering the Cut-off

Gavin Coles is one of the best at flighting the ball into the wind. Mastering the cut-off shot requires the correct posture and path coming into the ball. In this recent lesson Gary talks about stomping and trapping the ball correctly.

Holding Your Positions

Maintaining Posture and Shape going back enables the club and arms to swing down without having to make any compensations with the body in transition in the RSS. In this video Gary talks about training your posture by setting up correctly and holding your positions.

Radius: The RSS Engine

The Body Posture and the Arm Structure take care of where the club goes in the Right Sided Swing. If you get into position early and maintain Radius you can focus on the motion and easily add more speed.

Square to the Sternum

July 11, 2018 by admin Leave a Comment

Keeping the club-face square to the sternum is not possible without the right posture at set-up. The club-face body relationship during the swing is the key to achieving True Loft at impact. When you get it right the club doesn’t flip and the arms do not have to extend and hit to the right. We […]

Shallowing the club early in the downswing helps maintain the original radius of the club-head from the torso but also allows the body to stay in its original posture during the downswing.
